I have digitized the gardens (rain and organic) and all buildings on campus, and made separate layers for the buildings that contain fill stations or compost. I was also able to find all fill stations on campus thanks to the facilities department, who gave me a list of all buildings that had them. I think the next biggest step is deciding on a basemap for the project, and then adding labels and explanations and perhaps a legend (depending on the version of map-interactive could use labels but a PDF will need a legend).
I would greatly appreciate any feedback on my map so far, especially regarding the basemaps and what you think looks the most organized/appealing. Thanks in advance for your help (:
This looks really good Ashley! I think that choice A is my favorite. I like how the colors are subtle but that the map is simple. I think it is the perfect medium between being too busy and being bland. I am excited to see what you are going to do next. Everything looks great digitized too. Are you going to add symbology specific to what you have digitized or are you going to create a legend, or both?
ReplyDeleteAshley, this looks fantastic! When you were presenting your work-in-progress presentation, I really thought this was an awesome topic that you chose to do, as I am sure a lot of students and faculty have no idea what sustainability locations we have on campus. In terms of the map, I personally find B to be my favorite, as I think this will be easier to read for everyone since it sits directly on the satellite picture of campus, and people may be able to understand exactly where these locations are with the actual pictures of the buildings in relation to the locations.
